Janel, our CREST IDEALS undergraduate scholar, presented poster at Columbia
Janel Rivera successfully completed her summer internship with the Eisele Research Group as part of the CREST IDEALS REU initiative. On August 1st, she presented her poster titled “Synthesis and Characterization of Gold and Silver Nanoparticles” at Columbia University.
Janel was born in Orlando, Florida, and raised in Ponce, Puerto Rico. She is an undergraduate student at the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico, majoring in Chemistry and Biology. There she started research in quantum dots synthesis under the guidance of Dr. Luis Alamo Nole. Her passion for research led her to winning a scholarship from CREST IDEALS to do summer research at the City College of New York. She was a valuable member of the Team Nanoparticles led by Dr. Nikunjkumar Visaveliya. She is soon returning to Puerto Rico to continue her undergraduate studies.
